Blue Ridge

Blue Ridge is a secluded, upscale residential neighborhood in northwest Seattle, bordered by Carkeek Park to the north, Puget Sound to the west, Crown Hill to the south, and Greenwood to the east. With roughly 450 homes, it’s almost entirely a single-family community, governed by a homeowners’ association that enforces strict architectural guidelines and cares for shared amenities like a private beach park, clubhouse, pool, and tennis courts.

Homes tend to sit on rolling terrain and winding streets framed by mature trees, many with panoramic views of the Sound and the Olympic Mountains. Architecturally, you’ll see a mix: original homes from the 1930s-50s (Traditional Cape Cod, Tudor, midcentury ramblers) alongside newer remodeled or custom properties that tend to respect the neighborhood’s existing scale and style.

Blue Ridge doesn’t have a commercial center inside the neighborhood - you won’t find strip malls or big retail hubs within its boundaries - but local favorites and nearby choices in Crown Hill, Ballard, or along Aurora Avenue are just a few minutes away. There are cozy cafés, neighborhood dining spots, boutique shops, and of course the natural draw of Carkeek Park (right at your doorstep) and Golden Gardens Park just a short drive away. Outdoor lovers will appreciate access to beaches , trails, and the water.

The community feel is strong: private events via the HOA, neighbors out walking, kids in the streets, and that quiet calm that comes when you’re a bit separated from denser, busier parts of the city. Safety is a big plus, as is privacy.

Living in Blue Ridge means you’re about a 17-minute drive to downtown Seattle under normal traffic conditions, with the neighborhood sitting roughly 10 miles from the city center. Reaching Bellevue usually takes longer, as it requires crossing through or past downtown Seattle, making traffic a factor in commute times. For those who prefer public transit, Blue Ridge is served by King County Metro’s RapidRide D Line, which connects through Ballard and into downtown in about 40–45 minutes, as well as the Route 15X express bus during weekday peak hours, offering a quicker ride straight into the city.
